Bluetooth, AirDrop and nearby-sharing features make it easy for children to share photos, files and other content between devices. However, when these features are left on and visible to others, children may receive unwanted files, connect with strangers or reveal information about their device.
Parents and guardians should guide children to:
- Turn off Bluetooth, AirDrop and nearby sharing when not in use.
- Set AirDrop, Quick Share or similar features to Contacts Only, where available.
- Decline unexpected file-transfer or connection requests.
- Share files only with people they know and trust.
- Avoid using a device name that reveals their real name, age, school or other personal details.
Children should be reminded not to accept or open files sent by unknown people. If they receive a suspicious request or unwanted file, they should reject it and tell a trusted adult.
